Terms and Conditions

Booking Terms
 

  1. 50% non-refundable deposit of the daily rate is required to confirm your reservation. We suggest taking a travel insurance.
  2. Balance of daily rate due immediately after the hunting contract is concluded via internet bank transfer only to the bank details supplied.
  3. The remaining 50% of the daily rate is payable upon arrival and trophy fees for hunted animals (as per pricelist) is payable on the last hunting day in US $ cash or credit cards unless otherwise arranged before the hunt commences.
  4. Internet transfer on prior arrangement only.
  5. For the packages, it will be a 50% non- refundable deposit of package price to confirm your reservation. Balance of package price due immediately after the hunting contract is concluded via internet bank transfer only to the bank details supplied.
  6. For the packages, the remaining 50% of the package price is payable on the last hunting day in US $ cash or credit cards unless otherwise arranged before the hunt commences.
     

Liability
 

  1. While every effort is made to ensure the hunting client’s safety, no responsibility can be accepted for any illness, accident or loss/damage to personal belongings. Our tariff is based on current prices and is subject to change without prior notice.
  2. We suggest obtaining a medical and cancellation insurance and a Global Rescue policy (www.globalrescue.com), as regular travel insurance does not include coverage for hunting or related hazardous activities.
     

General Terms and Conditions
 

  1. All prices are subject to change without written notice.
  2. Some species occur only in certain habitats thus meaning different provinces.
  3. Some specialized species and predators will be a night hunt.
  4. Certain species require CITES / TOPS permits.
  5. Travel to and from airport and travel between different concessions is calculated as a hunting day.
  6. Minimum safari is 5 days including travel days and suggested period of hunt is 7 – 14 days depending on trophies required.
  7. Deposit can be carried over to one following hunting season.
  8. If the client prefers to use his own taxidermist or export agent in SA, shipping from our taxidermists to that taxidermist will be arranged at the client’s expense.
  9. Once we deliver the trophies to your chosen taxidermist and you receive proof of this, our responsibility regarding the trophies is fulfilled.
  10. Unless the complete account of the hunt is settled in South Africa, no trophies will be exported.
  11. It is at the discretion of the Professional Hunter to decide if the animal has been hit or wounded. This decision is non-negotiable and in case the Professional Hunter decides that the animal was hit and wounded, full tariff is payable.
  12. The Professional Hunter has the right to shoot and kill any animal wounded by the hunter. Full tariff for the animal to be paid by the hunter.
  13. All trophies that are not intended for export, such as culling hunts, will incur a 15% VAT charge.
  14. It is advisable to mount all SA carnivores. These skins deteriorate easily when stored for a long time, due to the residual fat after de-greasing. When you export these skins, we advise that they be mounted by your taxidermist as soon as they are received. If the skins have deteriorated by the time your taxidermist mounts it, we accept no responsibility. It is advisable for your taxidermist to tan it right after receipt and then freeze the skins. It must not be left in a store without being tanned for any length of time under any circumstances.
     

Importation of weapons/rifles to south africa the following is of importance:
 

  • Make sure your airline transport firearms
  • Report rifles during the booking with airlines


Send us copies of the following documentation ahead of the hunt, but also bring copies with you together with original documents:
 

  1. Copy of flight tickets
  2. Copy of passport
  3. Copy of rifle license/ownership/permit
  4. Copy of proof of firearm export from country of origin
  5. Your full name, surname, physical address, date of birth


We will send you an invitation letter that must be taken with you to South Africa.
 

Upon arrival collect your luggage first and then proceed to arrivals. Your rifle will not be with you but be forwarded to the SAPS firearm desk.

On arrival a member of Leeuwfontein Safaris or Bianca Stander (see below) will meet you and take you to the SAPS firearm desk to collect your rifle.

We will send you a SAPS 520 rifle import document by e-mail. This should be filled in in black ink but not signed before travelling to SA.

This signing of the SAPS 520 document will be conducted before the SAPS official inspecting the rifles and issuing the import license.

NB: No money is payable for this service.

Weapon import licenses can be arranged at an extra cost to be ready on arrival by Bianca.

Rifles
 

  • A minimum caliber of .270 is recommended for plains game. We recommend a .30-06, .308 or .300WM with 180gr bullets as ideal for all plains game up to eland.
  • For big game(Buffalo, Elephant, etc) a minimum of .375H&H is essential.
  • Only solid bullets of minimum 300gr. are legal for Hippo, Rhino and Elephant.
